Regional Food Technology and Quality Control Office was established in 2050 BS at Nepalgunj. It covers the Mid-Western Development Region (MWR) of Nepal which is the largest of the five development regions of Nepal. It’s working area are the 15 districts of this region.  It has food inspection units at Dang, Surkhet, and Bardia. The office mainly focuses on enforcement of Food Act and regulation as well as Feed Act and Regulation.  The office conducts regular inspection and monitoring of food market, hotel, restaurant and food industry. It also conducts trail research for value addition of locally produced agriculture based commodities. It provides export import certification, nutritional training, public awareness about nutrition and food safety and food processing training to encourage entrepreneurship.

Objectives

1.      Maintain safety and quality of food and feed products in the mid-western development region by implementing updated food and feed act and regulations.

2.      Promote entrepreneurship by developing and disseminating appropriate technologies.

3.      Improve nutritional status of the people through food based approaches in mid-western development region.
